Everything about The Alun School totally explained
The
Alun School is a large secondary school serving the community of
Mold, Flintshire,
North Wales, and its surrounding villages. It is part of the
Flintshire LEA.
As of 2008 the school enrols 1750 students and has over 100 staff members.
The current headteacher is Mr Ashley Jones.
The school is sometimes known as 'Mold Alun', often thought to distinguish it from the nearby Castell Alun secondary school in Hope.
Buildings
Being a rather large school, the Alun has many distinguishable buildings and areas.
These letters are used in the names of classrooms for that particular area. For example, M5 is on the M floor.
The B rooms are the new building also housing the main reception and library,
C is central block,
G is ground floor of the tower block,
L is lower floor of tower block and Daniel Owen Building,
M is middle floor of the tower block,
T is top floor of the tower block.
Houses
There are four houses in the school, with the same names as four
counties which are each represented by a colour:
- Clwyd- green
- Dyfed- blue
- Gwent- yellow
- Powys- red
Each house has its form rooms and house offices in a different area of the building.
